Air

The Komatsu airport is a hub airport in Hokuriku and there is almost no flight cancellation due to snow or other bad weather conditions. (in service average rate in 2002 was 99.0%)

Overview of Noto Airport: In 1996, the investigation of the possibility of Noto Airport was started. In December of 1996, the 7 year plan of airport maintenance which includes the establishment of Noto Airport, was granted by the Cabinet. The construction of the airport was started in 1998. The type of Noto Airport is the 3rd class with a 200m runway. The management of the airport will be under the local government. The airport will open in July 2003 and accommodate direct flights from/to major cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.

Express way (Highway)

Moreover, in Ishikawa prefecture, since the maintenance of trunk roads including the Noto toll road (Kanazawa-Anamizu 83km and limit 80km/h), which runs from Noto Peninsular is in progress. The transportation time is therefore shortened drastically.

　 The area is connected with other major cities through express ways such as Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya. A construction work is in progress to connect the area with Nagoya and Tokyo in shorter time.

Railway

The Hokuriku Shinkansen (Super express) is being planned steadily. If the plan is granted, it will take an hour and 20 minutes from Kanazawa to Osaka and 2 hours and 30 minutes to Tokyo.
